With excellent coaching, management and leadership, this team really proved itself against more mature and experienced opponents.
It took a last minute try to beat the Mid Canterbury team, but in true Canterbury style they did it. These lads have played sound, constructive and disciplined rugby, and are worthy of our jersey which they wore with pride. The team was without some of its leading forwards at Westport, so it really was a test of the depth of the squad to maintain their unbeaten record.
